Senwes Bonsmara Club Farmers’ Day

The Senwes Bonsmara Club held an excellent farmers day on Saturday 16 July on the farm of John Boon of Boons Bonsmaras. The day was attended by 76 people of which about 15 were club members. A presentation by Louis Steyl of Bonsmara SA about ‘How farmers should be aware of markets and how emerging farmers can use Bonsmara to improve the demand for their product’. Dr Danie Odendaal of Veterinary Network discussed the new ‘Daily Observation Charts system’ and how it can be implemented on the farm. The practical discussion was handled by Bonsmara senior inspectors, Charl Uys and Arthur de Villiers. A practical session on how to dehorn, brand, tattooing in the ears and ear notches, was also presented.
