Bonsmara SA gave the students of the Central University of Technology, Free State, a lecture about the history of the Bonsmara and the importance of performance testing in stud breeding. The students learned how to add value in cattle breeding by using better management principles and selecting for functional efficiency in your herd. Louis Steyl also held a practical session with the students on a farm, where they had the opportunity to see how we are using breeding values together with phenotype to select animals. Thanks to Martin Wipplinger from Optimum Bonsmaras for the use of his facilities and providing animals for the practical discussion.
