Australian Tourgroup

Once again a group of farmers from Australia and New Zealand touring Southern Africa took a day to visit a Bonsmara farm and to learn more about the breed. Louis Steyl from Bonsmara SA gave the farmers more information on the origin of the breed and how performance testing is used in the breed. The current challenges and developments in the South African stud industry were discussed as well. Colin Saunders gave the group an oversight of the different management disciplines that is needed for successful stud farming in South Africa. The group then viewed some animals and was amazed on how good the condition of the Bonsmara is on the veld with only licks as supplement.
